Green Cross Poland (GCPL) is a Polish Green Cross International Department –  third-largest non-governmental, ecological nonprofit organization in the world. Its activity in Poland started on February 2010, fulfilling to this day numerous projects concentrated on vast solutions in favor of environment protection and balanced development.

Green Cross Poland is a dialogue platform between business, administration, non-governmental organizations and research centers. Strategic workshops, high-level debates, collaboration with Polish and foreign partners – these are only few operations undertaken by GCPL in terms of three main activities: green economy, water management, green towns and boroughs. The organization actively participates in public act consultations and international strategies.

Green Cross International was formed by Michaił Gorbaczow in 1992. Over the last 6 years the leader of the Board of Directors is Jan Kulczyk. Polish Green Cross department was formed by Dominika Kulczyk in 2010.

Sociopolis, the urban transformation workshops (started in 2011).

Team of designers, researchers, architects, strategists, sociologists, town planners and engineers are working on diagnosis of lifestyles in Polish towns and social changes in its broadest sense. Sociopolis offers solutions which enable the townspeople to take the responsibility for the natural environment and to counter the social inequalities. This is the way how new ecosystems are being formed, in the same time engaging people with the world of ideas, brands, institutions and companies. It is a process of building social connections around lifestyles, creating new places, services, products, events and applications which enhance the attractiveness as well as the quality of life in a town.

There are two thematic workshops under the Sociopolis: Kwiatkibratki and URBalance. The realization of the first one, shows that green activities in towns encourage effective communication between the local communities and companies in favor of environmental improvement and social integration. However, URBalance affects the urban balance in physical and social terms. It is focused on managing space, place of transfer as well as designing the services connected with the process of awaiting.

The workshop is lead by architect and sociologist Ewa Rudnicka and service designer Grzegorz Młynarski.
